Instructions:
Starting with White Yarn:
- Round 1: Start with a magic ring and make 5 single crochets (sc) into the ring. Alternatively, chain 3 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring, then make 5 sc into the ring.
- Round 2: Increase round. Make 2 sc in each stitch around (total of 10 sc).
- Round 3: Sc around (1 sc in each stitch).
- Round 4: 1 sc in the first stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch (increase). Repeat around (15 sc total).
- Round 5: Sc around (15 sc total). Change to orange yarn at the end.
Transition to Orange Yarn:
- Round 6: Start with 2 sc, then make an increase (2 sc in the next stitch). Repeat around.
- Round 7: Sc around (20 sc total).
- Round 8: 3 sc, then increase in the next stitch. Repeat around (25 sc total). Change to yellow yarn at the end.
Switch to Yellow Yarn:
- Round 9 to 11: Sc around (25 sc in each round).
Begin Decreasing:
- Round 12: 3 sc, then decrease (sc next two stitches together). Repeat around. Attach safety eyes between rounds 9 and 10.
Finish Crocheting:
- Round 13: 2 sc in the back loop only, then decrease (using back loops only). Add more stuffing as needed.
- Round 14: Alternate between 1 sc and a decrease till end of the round.
- Round 15: Perform a couple of decreases, then slip stitch to close the round. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the opening closed.
Attaching Eyes:
- Insert the safety eyes between rounds 9 and 10.
- Use a piece of white yarn to add highlights near the base of each eye. Secure and hide the ends inside the candy corn.
Finishing Touches:
- Sew the opening closed with the leftover tail.
- Weave in any loose ends.
